How expensive are the entrees?
Beautiful restaurant with delicious food. The lobster noodle is incredible, nothing like anything Iโve tasted before. The shrimp skewers, the pancakes and the avocado toast are great too. Service was good, and the decor / vibe is beautiful. Highly recommend!Went for their outdoor dining (lunch time service) - great food, great service and great vibes!
MoreAuthentic Indonesian cuisine. Dimly lit dining area in the back. Every table has a tiny bottle of house made sambal(chili sauce) in case you need that extra spicy kick. Every dish accentuate the many different spices that Indonesian cuisine would call for. The corn fritter and oxtail soup are the stars of the meal.
MoreExcellent French Indonesia fusion restaurants. All the dishes were hearty, balanced and perfectly seasoned. The lobster ramen noodles and chicken satay were our favorites.
MoreGetting a reservation at Wayan seems to be pretty hard. Which was why we were surprised when they tried to seat us at the high chairs near the kitchen when we were there second set of people when the restaurant opened. They did not offer a choice of tables and had to 'ask' when we said we would prefer to be seated at a table since I could not sit on a high table. The only other nit we had with the restaurant was that the chilly sauce bottle on the table was sticky! And it was not just us. The table next to us seemed to have the same problem... This was an odd start to the dining experience at this restaurant.Other than the above, the rest of the evening was delightful. Our waitress was amazing and the food was incredible. We absolutely enjoyed everything we had, including the cocktails and the dessert. But I'm not sure whether we would go back, considering that getting a reservation is so hard and the initial seating experience was so underwhelming.
MoreFire food. Got in just before the, well deserved, publicity blew this place up and reservations got hard to come by. Incredibly balanced food with tons of bright flavours. Ingredients are highlighted beautifully and the space is designed incredibly well. Props to the whole team.
MoreHad a nice late lunch today at the terrace they have built outside the restaurant. Very nice staff, food is good as well. Our favorite the Jimbaran clams and the chicken satay, it definitely brought back memories from our trip to Bali.
MoreGreat place but absolutely overpriced. The food cams out quick, the service was good, and seating on a Friday after 8 we walked in early 2 hours for our reservation and were seated within minutes.Overall the food tasted good with good flavoring and temperature for each dish. The nuts at the bay area amazing and free! The cocktails were nice and food, but a little sweet.
MoreReally wonderful food, decent prices and cool nyc vibes / atmosphere. We sat at the bar and had great service both for drinks and dinner. 5 plates and 3 drinks for $150.
Moreshared plates. sweet & spicy sauces with flavorful food and fresh ingredients. There's a nice bar upfront and an intimate small room in the back with Indonesian teak furnishings & festive lighting. Makes a great place to share a meal with friends or go out on a date. The prawns in sweet & sour sauce and the lobster & fried garlic over ramen noodles were our favorites. 1 small plate, 1 main and a side per person was just about right for everyone.
MoreOwned and operated by Cedric Vongerichten, Wayan is an extended exploration of Asian flavors originally developed by his father, Jean-George. With few options available in the city, the Indonesian cuisine evokes traditional flavors set under a beautiful modern interior space that is warm and inviting with Southeast Asian touches. No detail is left unconsidered, including the furniture, serving ware, even the waitstaff uniform! All dishes are thoughtfully executed with multitude of balanced flavors and textures.
MoreDelicious food. Love the lobster noodles but it is a bit spicy. Desserts are great too. Staff are friendly. Nice environment.
MoreFABULOUS- gorgeous space, delicious food. My favorite dishes included the gado gado, lobster noodle (a must!!!), the clams and for desert, the passion fruit custard. We ordered several other items as well but these were the standouts. Also met Cedric Vongerichten and his wife Ochi. They make dining at Wayan incredibly warm and welcoming. I will be back. If you are averse to noisy restaurants, I would recommend dining in the front room. Eating at the bar is also a great option.
MoreIntimate atmosphere with small plates and high prices to follow. I felt the cuisine itself was good, but by no means the best Indonesian cuisine in the city, and prices were on the higher side (expect $150 for two).I'd go back for drinks and a small snack to eat, but would not recommend it for anyone who's looking for a full course dinner.
MoreThe food here is incredible! Loved their Nasi Goreng, the yellow chicken, chicken Satay and the lobster noddles. Really enjoyed the desserts as well (we tried the one with the avocado ice cream and the one with purple ice cream as well).
MoreLove, love, love! From the stunning sense of arrival to the friendly, professional, and genuine staff, Wayan is a gem of a restaurant. The food, served as itโs prepared, was delicious and unique. Cocktails had a depth of flavor and the entire meal was paced and timed perfectly. Three of us went for brunch and can't wait to be back for dinner!**update. Went back for dinner and again 5-stars. Absolutely love Wayan!
MoreMy first time at this restaurant although have been hearing about it often. It does not disappoint. We came during lunch mid week so the menu was small but everything was delicious.
MoreLoved this place from the decor to the food to the drinks. The corn fritters and the lobster noodle were my favorite dishes. The cocktail with mezcal and coconut milk was also great.
More๐พ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐: There are an abundance of vegatable-focused dishes in Southeast Asia, and ๐ฎ๐ฉ ๐๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ผ-๐๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ผ stands close to the top of the list. Expect to find an array of veggies , hard-boiled eggs ๐ฅ and tofu topped off with a peanut sauce๐ฅ in this salad ๐ฅ.But this is ๐ฝ, and this Indonesian-French ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ท eatery takes on the chef's persona and features soft-boiled quail eggs ๐ฅ, radishes and edible flower petals ๐บ, a creamy avocado purรฉe ๐ฅ, all brought together with an unforgettable peanut relish ๐ฅ. The dish literally translate to "mix mix", so chef ๐จ๐ปโ๐ณ does that justice. What other salads stand up to this ๐ฎ๐ฉ nationally recognized dish?
MoreWe went to to Wayan during their lunch time. The have two menus one for lunch and one for dinner. This was a great introduction into the amazing menu at Wayan and we are so excited to come back for their dinner menu. For lunch we got the chicken burger and the Soto Atam. Both were exceptional. The flavor pallets we symboled yet complex. For drinks we had both lunch time offerings which were also exceptional and full of such flavor that it had us wanting more. For desert we got the banana split which was absolutely heavenly. I canโt wait to come back. If I could give more then 5 stars I would.
MoreOne of the best meals Iโve had in New York. I canโt claim to be an expert in Indonesian food but eating at Wayan made we think Iโve been really missing out of this is how yummy it is. If you can get a seat at the chefs counter and watch the action. I want to go back. I want all my loved ones to go. Well with the price and a delicious way to treat yourself. Do not skip the ribs or the fritter.
MoreGreat vibe, perfect for a night out and drinks. All the food was delicious and excellent service.Make sure to have a reservation!
MoreI have seen mixed reviews from various people on various sites, but on the day when we visited this restaurant, almost everything was perfect. We have sampled many dishes from their menu, and they all were full of flavor and had wonderful textures. My least favorite dish was the Baby Back Ribs. The meat was very succulent, but it wasn't falling off the bones, and the sauce, in my opinion, needed to be sweeter. But overall, this was a wonderful dinner experience, and I'm definitely coming back.
MoreMy husband and I had a lovely date night here! Everything we ordered, from the cocktails to the main courses was fantastic and unique, and our server Matt was incredibly helpful! We will definitely be coming back, and will be recommending this place to our friends and family.
MoreFinally something new in New York! Recently the food scene becomes so predictable, Wayan is like a breath of fresh air. This is a modern Indonesian cuisine, that alone is very uncommon in NY. The first impression when you walked in is a beautiful decorations, moody lighting, medium size restaurant. The food was outstanding! We sat at the chef table and ordered half of the menu. Everything was great! I highly recommend that you order Octopus and Lobster noodle when you're there. Their cocktails were excellent! This place checked all the boxes, I'll definitely go back again.
MoreCame here since I heard the hype about this place. Food was really good when I came here for lunch. I ordered the chicken bowl, and the portion was on the smaller side but tasty. The corn fritters are SO good, def recommend giving that a try. Want to come back here for dinner and get a feel of the dinner ambiance.
MoreBeautiful restaurant and bar with great vibes. Food was delicious, full of flavors and beautifully plated. Service was good and friendly.
Moreindonesian food and service at this place is super good. This place has a nice atmosphere.
MoreThis is one of my favorite places to eat brunch! Their Lobster Noodles is one of the best dishes you may ever eat. Itโs a must try. The surprise hit is the French Toast with a Flambรฉ Pineapple on top. Itโs literally SO ADDICTIVE. The chef and his team are so nice. Top notch service. Run to go to this place.
